Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the diagnostic value of plasma soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (sTREM-1) as a biomarker for adult patients with sepsis.

Methods

Related studies on the diagnostic value of plasma sTREM-1 in adult patients with sepsis were searched in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, CBM, CNKI, Wangfang and VIP published up to May 2017. The bivariate model was used to calculate the pooled diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), pooled sensitivity, pooled specificity, pooled positive likelihood ratio (PLR), and pooled negative likelihood ratio (NLR). The area under the summary receiver operating characteristic (SROC) curve was analyzed.

Results

Thirty eligible articles involving 3 349 patients were included. Meta-analysis in total population showed that the pooled DOR was 20.03 [95% confidence interval (CI) (12.20, 32.87)]; the pooled sensitivity was 0.82 [95% CI (0.77, 0.86)]; the pooled specificity was 0.81 [95%CI (0.76, 0.85)]; the pooled PLR was 4.36 [95%CI (3.37, 5.64)]; the pooled NLR was 0.22 [95%CI (0.16, 0.29)]. The SROC curve showed that the pooled AUC was 0.89 [95%CI (0.85, 0.91)].

Conclusion

Plasma sTREM-1 has a moderate value in the diagnosis of adult patients with sepsis.
